Print a full page from your phone, anywhere, in seconds

A contract needs signing at a client's kitchen table. A customs form needs a hard copy at an airport hotel. A form has to go back today and the nearest print shop shuts at five. This is the printer for exactly those moments.

It weighs about 1.5 lb (690 g), measures 10.39 x 3.07 x 1.77 in (264 x 78 x 45 mm), and lies flat in a laptop sleeve. Your phone sends the file over Bluetooth, or a laptop sends it down a USB-C cable, and a full-width A4 or US Letter page comes out of the slot along the top.

Zero ink, zero toner, zero ribbons and zero cartridges to run out, ever. The print head heats the paper and the paper darkens where it is heated, which is why the whole machine fits in your bag and why the running cost is just the paper.

The paper is the only thing you ever buy

This is a direct thermal printer: heat makes the image, so the single consumable is A4 or US Letter thermal paper, sold as flat sheets or fanfold packs. It looks and feels much like ordinary paper and goes in the same top slot - it is simply coated to react to the print head.

The manufacturer also lists 2.08 in (53 mm), 3.15 in (80 mm) and 4.33 in (110 mm) thermal rolls, so the same machine turns out receipts, shipping labels and shelf tags on the days you need those instead of a page.

Add a pack of thermal paper to the order and you are printing the day the box lands - and from then on, the paper is the whole running cost.

How the file gets there

From a phone or tablet: pair over Bluetooth and print through the manufacturer's free companion app, which the quick-start guide points you to. It runs on iOS 13 and later and Android 7 and later, and it works on an iPad as well as a phone. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and image files are all supported.

From a computer: plug in the USB-C cable. Windows, macOS, ChromeOS and Linux all print to it.

The effective print width is 8.5 in (216 mm) - full US Letter width, which also covers A4 - at 300 DPI. That is sharp enough for contracts, invoices, itineraries, packing labels, worksheets and study notes, with clean black text you can sign and file.

Battery, and how far a charge goes

The 2600 mAh battery charges over USB-C at 5 V / 2 A from the same charger as your phone. The manufacturer rates it at up to 150 sheets on a full charge, which is a working week of the kind of printing anyone actually does away from a desk.

Print speed is 12 - 15 mm/s, so a full page lands in seconds, quietly, with zero warm-up and zero priming. Press the key, send the file, take the page.

Four colors, one machine

White, Purple, Pink and Black. The finish is the only difference - every color is the same printer, the same battery and the same 300 DPI head. Pick the color above before you add to cart.

Why this instead of the print shop or the hotel business center

The print shop closes at five. This prints at the kitchen table at nine, on the battery, from the phone in your hand.
The hotel business center charges per page and queues. This lives in your laptop bag and prints the boarding pass, the itinerary and the signed contract in your room.
An inkjet dries out between trips. This has zero ink to dry, zero cartridges to replace and zero cleaning cycles - heat and paper, every time.
Covered by the Gear Elevation 90-day money-back guarantee. Take it on your next trip, and if it is wrong for you, send it back for a full refund.
